Project Process
With the Swiss Climate Protection Initiative SCPI SENS International is, together with its project partner Fox & Earth Industries AG and the Brazilian subsidiary Indústria Fox, developing recycling projects for cooling appliances in emerging markets. Through the complete destruction of the ozone-damaging greenhouse gases CFCs, verified by external experts, Indústria Fox is credited with climate certificates, which SENS International is placing on the voluntary market as Swiss Charter Units. The profits from the sale of certificates are invested into further plants.
The SCPI is conceived as an economically sustainable recycling model. Through the environmentally compatible recycling of refrigeration appliances and the complete destruction of CFCs, greenhouse gas emissions are reduced. SENS International certifies these reductions as Verified Emissions Reductions (VER) and places them on the voluntary CO2 market under the name of Swiss Charter Units (SCUs). The returns on the certificates are invested in the construction of other plants in Brazil and other emerging markets.
The emission reductions which the certificates represent are verified on the basis of the «Swiss Charter – Climate Protection by Recycling» by independent certification bodies (Designated Operational Entities, DOE) such as SGS and TÜV Rheinland and therefore meet the highest standards in the CO2 market.Within the SCPI, SENS International covers the areas of project financing, project control, acquisition and care of investors, public relations, communication with institutions, stakeholder care as well as the marketing of SCUs and the coordination of external auditors.
Fox & Earth Industries AG is developing recycling locations on behalf of SENS International, drawing up related project designs and managing the implementation and operational realisation.
